Trendy Halloween fits That double as wardrobe staples

As much as anyone does, I dread spending money on expensive Halloween costumes that I’ll only wear once. This year, I’m taking a different approach— why not DIY costumes while simultaneously buying pieces that will elevate my wardrobe? I’ve decided to make each Halloween outfit out of trendy pieces that I will actually wear again. It’s a win-win: a fun, affordable costume and closet upgrades!

Flight Attendant

Cave Woman

Flapper Girl

Marie antoinette

If you are craving a flight attendant Pitch Perfect moment, this costume is perfect and so easy to recreate. These mini linen shorts from Reformation have been on my wishlist forever, so Halloween is the perfect excuse to finally pull the trigger and purchase them. For the top, any white collared, button-up would work. This one from Pacsun, unbuttoned with a navy or black lace bra would look great. Finally, pair with a neck scarf or little hat from Amazon!

The bottom pic was my inspo for this outfit, but, if you want something you can wear again, the ruched cheetah set from Peppermayo and one of the many off of Revolve are great options. If you don’t see yourself ever needing a cheetah set, a cheetah slip dress off of Depop(or any other clothing site because cheetah is everywhere) paired with that one gold chain belt that everyone has works amazing.

Sheer mini dresses, especially with sequins and sparkles are very on trend right now. This dress from Superdown—or this old Free People dress I found on Depop—paired with flapper accessories would make for the perfect flapper girl costume. You could also find a dress more suited for a flapper costume—one with more sequins and fringes—but this dress could be worn repeatedly for nights out, making it worth the Halloween purchase.

Marie Antoinette seems to be a Halloween favorite this year. This ultra-girly, chic costume offers endless styling options. You can go classic with an off-white corset, a billowy skirt, or even bloomers. Or, for a more modern and trendy twist, this With Jean set channels the same corset and bow ambiance in a more wearable way. If you’re like me and not quite bold enough to rock the powdered wig, a messy bun with bows or pink feathers will still do the costume justice. Finally, pair the fit with pearl or lace neckwear, such as this chocker I found on Amazon, and some lace gloves.
